Here for Good Initiative

What’s the purpose of a generosity initiative? Don’t we have enough funds already?

Generosity initiatives serve several important purposes:

  1. They provide a high-profile focal point for stewardship, education, reflection, and commitment. This is valuable to all of us but especially important for the many hundreds of people who have come into the life of Eastbrook Church recently.
  2. They help us raise monies over-and-above our annual budget to address special needs and opportunities. Our annual budget covers the cost of the routine operations of our church and its ministries. Our “normal” budget, however, doesn’t cover the major renovations or special projects that make for a truly thriving church.
How long will the Here for Good initiative run?

The giving season for Here for Good will begin with Celebration Sunday on Sunday, December 6, 2026 and will continue through Friday, December 31, 2028.

Why are we doing a generosity initiative in light of the current economy?

We recognize that these are challenging and uncertain economic times for many individuals and families. Yet the need for ministry has not diminished. People still need the hope of Christ, children and students still need discipleship, our neighbors still need care, and our campus requires faithful stewardship for future generations. Here for Good is an invitation for each person to prayerfully seek God’s leading and respond according to their circumstances, trusting that God can use our collective faith and generosity to advance His mission in Milwaukee and around the world.

Here for Good Fund

What is the Here for Good Fund?

The Here for Good Fund is one fund over the next two years that will allow Eastbrook to do ministry, support missions, and improve the campus, all through a single church-wide generosity initiative.

Will Eastbrook Academy be contributing to the Here for Good Fund?

In this first phase of the project, Eastbrook Academy will contribute as they are able through pursuing relevant grants, donors, and funding sources that Eastbrook Church does not have access to. We expect Eastbrook Academy will be more actively involved in future phases.

What is a New Market Tax Credit?

A New Market Tax Credit (NMTC) is a federal economic development program designed to encourage private investment in low-income and under-served communities. The program is administered by the U.S. Treasury Department’s Community Development Financial Institutions (CDFI) Fund. Investors receive a federal tax credit in exchange for making investments in qualified community development organizations, which then finance projects in eligible communities. As we pursue the New Market Tax Credit, we are also exploring additional funding sources and opportunities.

What happens if we don’t reach our goal?

Our ultimate goal in Here for Good is spiritual, not financial. We are trusting God to lead each person to respond in faith and generosity as He directs. If we do not reach our full giving goal, Eastbrook’s leadership will prayerfully evaluate the timing and scope of projects, prioritize the most important campus stewardship and ministry needs, and utilize other planned funding sources, including New Market Tax Credits and financing as appropriate. Regardless of the final amount raised, every gift given will be used to strengthen ministry, support missions, and invest in the future impact of Eastbrook Church.

Why are we taking out a loan rather than asking the church to be more generous?

Here for Good already represents a significant step of faith and generosity for our church family, and we want this initiative to be both inspiring and achievable. By combining generosity, New Markets Tax Credits, and a limited amount of financing, we can move forward with critical ministry and campus investments while remaining responsible stewards of the resources God has entrusted to us. This approach allows us to meet today’s ministry opportunities and facility needs without placing the entire burden on current giving.

Campus Improvement Plan

What are the other phases of the Campus Improvement Plan?

Future phases of the campus improvement plan will address other aging buildings on campus, such as Holy Grounds and the Church Office (Administration) building, and will expand classrooms for both Church and Academy ministry. You can see site and floor plans for future phases, as they stand now, in this booklet.

What does the timeline look like for the phases?

We do not currently have a strict timeline in place for future phases. Our priority is on Here for Good, which addresses the most urgent ministry and campus needs first.

How will Eastbrook maintain operating costs once the building renovations are complete?

We are planning appropriately for future operational cost changes that will occur when the building renovations are complete. We anticipate there will be some cost savings through updated building systems (e.g., HVAC, electrical, plumbing), but also increased costs with new campus spaces. Our ministry services team and Church Council will budget appropriately for this and believe our church’s giving will be able to handle these increased costs.

How will this project impact ongoing giving?

Through Here for Good, Eastbrook is using a One Fund approach, which means regular giving, missions giving, and campus improvement giving are combined into a single generosity initiative for the two-year commitment period. Rather than asking people to choose between supporting ongoing ministry and supporting campus improvements, every gift to the Here for Good Fund helps advance the full vision, including core ministries, local and global missions, and campus improvements. Our goal is that ministry and missions remain strong throughout the initiative, not that they take a back seat to facility projects. In fact, a significant portion of the overall vision is dedicated to sustaining and expanding ministry and missions alongside investing in our campus.

Giving & Generosity

How can I make a gift to the Here for Good Fund? Will my gift be tax-deductible?

During the two year giving period for Here for Good, all giving at Eastbrook will be part of the Here for Good fund and gifts can be made online at eastbrook.org/giving, or by using the giving boxes in the Worship Hall. If you would like to make a one-time gift or give through stored resources, our church administrative staff are available to help facilitate that. All gifts will be tax-deductible.

What are you asking me to do in this initiative?

First and foremost, we are asking that you pray and seek God’s leading on what He is asking of you. Prepare your heart to hear Him, and then listen to what He says. Join a small group. Talk with a trusted friend or, if you’re married and have children, talk together about what this commitment will mean for this next season.

How long is my commitment?

We are asking everyone who calls Eastbrook their church home to make a two year commitment—24 months of giving. The fulfillment period for commitments begins on December 6, 2026 and concludes December 31, 2028. Every gift given during this time will go toward the Here for Good Fund to support ongoing ministry as well as campus improvements.

What if I am brand new to Eastbrook Church?

Here for Good is about the vision God has for our church family. We believe that the local church is one of the most compelling missions to give toward, and we would really love for you to make Eastbrook Church your home. If you are ready for it, this is a perfect time for you to put a stake in the ground and make this your church. We are so grateful you are here!

What if I have not been a regular giver to Eastbrook Church before?

If you have never before or only occasionally given financially to Eastbrook Church, Here for Good was crafted as a opportunity to see how God will use your gifts for kingdom impact and how your obedience will transform you. Here for Good is a whole-church generosity initiative and is a call to radical, sacrificial giving for absolutely everyone at Eastbrook Church.

Can I designate giving to one part of the project?

We are asking people to generously respond to the full Here for Good vision over the next two years through our Here for Good Fund. Our leadership has been entrusted with the responsibility of prioritizing spending on the new initiatives and management of the funds and will do so with great care and stewardship of the resources that are given. Please reach out to Lupe Dueñas, Sr. Director of Ministry Services at 414.228.5220 or lduenas@eastbrook.org if you have additional questions or would like to discuss this further.

In addition to cash, are there other ways I can give more to the Here for Good initiative?

Be prayerful and creative as you explore ways you can give to the initiative. You might have stock, property, or other items of value. You may have stored resources that God has blessed you with in the past that He is calling you to give out of during this time. Please reach out to Lupe Dueñas, Sr. Director of Ministry Services at 414.228.5220 or lduenas@eastbrook.org if you have additional questions or would like to discuss this further.

I am uncomfortable when we focus so much attention on money. Can you help me?

Jesus spoke about generosity more than any other topic in Scripture. Not only does Jesus talk about giving, He instructs us how much to give. In Matthew 6:21 He says, “For where your treasure is, there your heart will be also.” Generosity is about more than just money. It is about our heart posture and living a life clearly committed to Christ.

In addition to a financial commitment, how else can I participate in Here for Good?

We want everyone at Eastbrook Church to engage on a transformative spiritual journey through Here for Good by praying, studying Scripture, participating in small group life and engaging others in the journey. Consider sharing your story with others. Join or lead a group (sign up at eastbrook.org/hereforgoodgroup). Serve faithfully or for the first time. Take the next step in your journey of discipleship and see what God does.
